Volume 54 Number 18 Date 08/28/2009 JAPANESE BEETLE - Adults were reportedly causing damage to roses, young Amelanchier trees and asparagus ferns in Dane County late last week. While numbers this season were generally lower than last year, populations in the DeForest area were the highest in many years. STRAWBERRY ROOT WEEVIL - Several inquiries have been received concerning the invasion of homes in the southern counties. These insects are merely a nuisance and do no actual damage to the structure or to humans. -- Krista Hamilton, DATCP Entomologist
